What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, Viator pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through Viator.

We have no connection with any estate or grower, with the CIVA, with the Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg, with the Musée Unterlinden or the Musée Bartholdi, with the Foire aux Vins, with the Colmar tourist office, or with any of the villages these tours stop in.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim: Top rated only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher with at least 50 reviews, Best seller only on the tour with the most reviews, Best value only on the cheapest. Some operators sell several different days, and each appears on its own because each is separately bookable and priced.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different days from three operators: the best-rated short wine run from the Little Venice kerb, the full day with three tastings in the fare from the cinema kerb, and the most-reviewed four-village day that collects you at your door.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 20 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every tour fare is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. Two fares are priced for the whole group rather than per person: the private 4 Wonders day, for up to eight, and the private three hours, for up to four.

The sight prices we print are in euros, as each sight publishes them. The castle's prices, hours and shuttle come from haut-koenigsbourg.fr; the Musée Unterlinden's from musee-unterlinden.com; the Musée Bartholdi's hours from musee-bartholdi.fr; the wine fair's 2026 dates from foire-colmar.com; the Christmas market dates from noel-colmar.com; the appellations, the grand crus and the grapes from the CIVA at vinsalsace.com; and the route's own figures, 1953, more than 170 km and 119 communes, from the regional tourist board at visit.alsace. Where a detail comes from an operator's listing, such as a kerb, a group size, an age limit or what is poured, it belongs to that tour.

Distances are straight-line kilometres, calculated from the coordinates the listings themselves publish, and they are labelled "as the crow flies" wherever they appear.

What we deliberately do not publish

What the tasting costs at the cave. The 4 Wonders small-group day makes the tasting your own expense. Its listing gives no figure, so neither do we.
The 2026 harvest dates. We found no official date for the Alsace appellations when we checked.
Drive times. Every drive depends on the route the operator takes and on the day. Where a distance is useful we give the straight line, and say so.
The Musée Bartholdi's admission price. The page we read gives its hours and not its price.
The year of the first Foire aux Vins. The fair publishes its edition number, the 77th, not the date it began.
"The oldest wine route in France." The regional tourist board publishes "one of the oldest", which is what we write.
A Travellers' Choice badge. No listing in this capture carries that award, so it does not appear anywhere on this site.
Listing claims the sources contradict. The 4 Wonders small-group day promises in its highlights that you will sample Alsace wines, and excludes the tasting in the same listing; we say you pay at the cave. The private day from Basel is titled "small group" but sold as private; we call it private. The Emblematic says its group is limited to seven travellers while the booking page takes eight; we print eight.
