Prices, whether the tasting is in the fare, where each tour meets, ages, lunch, the castle and cancelling. Ready to book your Colmar Wine tickets? The answers below settle most of what you need first.
Two answers matter more than the rest. First, whether the tasting is inside the price: on most tours it is, but not on every one. Second, where your day begins, because a kerb in Little Venice, a kerb at the cinema and your own front door are three different mornings. Every tour card says both.
Is the wine tasting included in a Colmar wine tour?
On most of them, yes. The exceptions are the Ophorus villages half day, which lists tasting fees as extra, the 4 Wonders small-group day, where you pay for what you taste at the wine cave, and the private three-hour run, which names no tasting at all. Every card here says which.
How much does a Colmar wine tour cost?
From $19 for an hour's cellar tour and seven-wine tasting at Domaine Gueth, to $790 for a private full day for a group of up to eight. A shared half day with the tasting in the fare starts at $111, and a shared full day at $158, though on that one the tasting is extra.
Should I book a half day or a full day?
A half day of three to four hours reaches two villages or two cellars. A full day of eight hours reaches three or four villages or three cellars, with time to buy lunch in one of them. If the wine matters more to you than the villages, take the full day with three tastings.
Where do Colmar wine tours leave from?
From three kerbs within 900 m of each other: 6 Rue Turenne in Little Venice, the CGR cinema on Place Scheurer-Kestner, and the 76A Grand Rue office. The private days and the 4 Wonders small group collect you from your own address instead.
Do any tours pick me up at my hotel?
Yes. Both 4 Wonders days pick up at your Colmar hotel or rental, the private three-hour run collects you wherever you say, and the day from Basel picks up in Basel, Colmar or Breisach. The Alsace Safari and Ophorus days meet at a kerb.
Can I cancel and get my money back?
Yes, on every tour here: cancel at least 24 hours before the start and you get a full refund. Inside 24 hours nothing is refunded. If the operator cancels for low numbers, you are offered another date or your money back.
Are the tours adults only?
The Ophorus half-day and full-day wine tours are, strictly 18 and over. The Ophorus villages half day takes children from four, and Domaine Gueth pours grape juice for under-18s at no charge. On the Alsace Safari days every child must be booked with an age so the right seat is fitted.
Can I book a wine tour on my own?
On most of them, yes. The Ophorus tours take a single booking but run only with two adults, so a solo seat may be moved or refunded. The Emblematic, the 4 Wonders small group and the day from Basel need two people on every booking.
Which villages will I see on a Colmar wine tour?
Depending on the tour: Eguisheim, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr, and Kientzheim on the day from Basel. Both 4 Wonders days cover Eguisheim, Kaysersberg, Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr. The half days reach two or three.
Is lunch included?
No, on none of them. The full days stop in a village where you can buy lunch. The half days expect you to eat first: two operators say so in writing, and Alsace Safari does not allow food in the van.
Is Haut-Kœnigsbourg included?
Only on the Emblematic, whose fare covers the entry. Even there the stop happens only if the castle's daily visitor numbers allow. Bought at the gate, adult entry is €12, or €16 with the audio tour.
How far are the wine villages from Colmar?
As the crow flies from Little Venice: Eguisheim 5.3 km, Kaysersberg 10.1 km, Riquewihr 11.1 km, Hunawihr 12.3 km and Ribeauvillé 13.6 km. Haut-Kœnigsbourg is 19.6 km. Road distances are longer, and no listing gives a drive time.
What wines will I taste?
Mostly white, because 90% of AOC Alsace wine is. Expect Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Muscat, often a Pinot Blanc, a Sylvaner and a Crémant d'Alsace, and sometimes a Pinot Noir.
How big are the groups?
Four at most in the private three-hour car, seven on the 4 Wonders small-group day, and eight in the Alsace Safari and Ophorus minivans. The day from Basel takes nine, and Domaine Gueth's tasting room up to 30.
When is the best time for a Colmar wine tour?
Late spring to autumn, for a green or gold vineyard. The Foire aux Vins runs from 31 July to 9 August 2026, and Colmar's Christmas markets from 23 November to 29 December 2026, when the villages are at their busiest. Book ahead for either.
What time do the tours start?
Most start in the morning: the Emblematic, both 4 Wonders days and the day from Basel at 9:00am, the Ophorus full day at 9:30am. The ICONICS half day leaves Rue Turenne at 1:45pm, and the Ophorus villages half day at 9:00am or 2:00pm. Arrive ten minutes early at every kerb.
What happens if not enough people book?
Most shared days say the operator may cancel if the minimum is not met. If that happens you are offered another date or a full refund, so leave a spare day in your plans if the tour matters to you.
Are the tours wheelchair accessible?
None of the vehicle tours is: every one says so on its listing. Domaine Gueth states wheelchair-accessible surfaces and transport, and is the one to choose if steps or a minivan are a problem.
What language are the tours in?
English, on every tour here. Both Alsace Safari days also guide in German, French and Spanish; the 4 Wonders small group and Domaine Gueth in German and French. The Ophorus days and the day from Basel are in English only.
Do I need to book a car seat for my child?
On the Alsace Safari days, yes: book every child with their age so the right seat is fitted. A child without a booked seat cannot board, and the fare is not refunded.
Can I buy wine to take home?
Yes, at any cellar you visit, usually at the grower's own price. Domaine Gueth sells on site or delivers to your home. Check your airline's allowance before you buy a case.
What is an Alsace Grand Cru?
One of 51 delimited vineyard sites, each its own appellation since 2011, planted mainly to Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris or Gewurztraminer. Together they make 4% of Alsace wine.
How long is the Alsace Wine Route?
More than 170 km across 119 communes, from Marlenheim in the north to Thann in the south. It opened in 1953 and is one of the oldest wine routes in France. Colmar sits about halfway down it.
Is a private wine tour worth it?
For a full car, the cost a head comes close to a shared seat: the private 4 Wonders day is $790 for up to eight, and the private three hours $409 for up to four. For two people it costs far more than two shared seats. You pay for your own route and your own door.
Can I do a wine tour from Basel?
Yes. One private day picks up in Basel, Colmar or Breisach: six hours, four villages and family-winery tastings, $341 a head, with a minimum of two.
What should I wear?
Flat shoes with some grip: Riquewihr and Eguisheim are cobbled, and the Emblematic lists moderate fitness. Bring a layer for the cellars, which stay cool in summer.
Do the tours run in the rain?

Is the Musée Unterlinden open on the day I tour?
The Musée Unterlinden opens Wednesday to Monday, 9:00am to 6:00pm, with last entry at 5:30pm, and closes on Tuesdays. Adult entry is €14. It holds the Isenheim Altarpiece.
Where is Bartholdi's house?
The Musée Bartholdi, in the sculptor's birthplace, is at 30 rue des Marchands in Colmar. It opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm, and closes on Mondays.
How do I get to Domaine Gueth without a car?
Take the bus from Colmar to the Chapelle stop in Gueberschwihr, then walk about eight minutes to 1 Brunnmattweg. The listing includes no transport.
Are tips included?
No. The Ophorus listings name gratuities as excluded, and on the other tours a tip is not in the fare either. Tipping your guide is your choice.
Is there food with the tasting?
At Domaine Gueth you get a pretzel and a few crackers. On the Ophorus days, no: snacks are usually not served with a French tasting, to keep the wine's flavour clean. Eat a good breakfast or lunch before you go.
