The short answer. Most wine days out of Colmar leave from one of three kerbs in the old town, all within a kilometre of each other, or collect you from your door. Half days run three to four hours and full days eight. Almost every fare puts the tasting inside the price, and none of them includes lunch. Every one refunds in full if you cancel 24 hours ahead. Eat before you go, and be at the kerb ten minutes early.

The three kerbs, and your door

The old town is small, and so is the spread of meeting points. Knowing which one is yours saves you the one mistake travellers make most: waiting at the wrong corner.

  • 6 Rue Turenne, Little Venice. In front of the Winstub Brenner restaurant. Both Alsace Safari days leave from here, including the ICONICS half day at 1:45pm.
  • The CGR cinema, 1 Place Scheurer-Kestner. All the Ophorus days, including the full day with three tastings at 9:30am. It is 919 m from Rue Turenne, as the crow flies.
  • 76A Grand Rue. The Alsace Original Experiences office, 122 m from Rue Turenne. Both 4 Wonders days use it, though both also collect you from your address.
  • Your door. The 4 Wonders small-group day, the private days, and the Basel day, which picks up in Basel, Colmar or Breisach.

One cellar needs no kerb at all. Domaine Gueth, at Gueberschwihr, is a place you reach yourself, by car or by bus to the Chapelle stop and a walk of about eight minutes. All of these are plotted for you on the map, with straight-line distances to each village.

What the fare covers, and the three that differ

Read the fare before you book, because it is the part that changes your day most. On most tours the tasting sits inside the price, and you hand over nothing at the cellar door. A few work differently, and you should know which before you choose:

  • The Ophorus villages half day lists tasting fees as extra. It is a walk through Kaysersberg and Riquewihr that pours nothing by itself.
  • The 4 Wonders small-group day stops at a wine cave where you pay for what you taste.
  • The private three-hour run names no tasting at all, though you can ask for a cellar on your route.

Lunch is never in a fare. Full days stop long enough for you to buy it in a village. Half days expect you to eat first, and Alsace Safari does not allow food in the van. Tips are your choice, and the Ophorus days list them as excluded.

Useful tip. Eat a proper meal before you board. Ophorus warns that snacks do not come with a tasting in France, so the only food you have is the food you ate before. A bottle of water in your bag takes care of the rest.

How long to allow

The clock on the listing is the time you are with the guide. Add the walk to the kerb and ten minutes of waiting, and plan around that.

A cellar hour at Domaine Gueth leaves the rest of your day free, if you can get there. A half day fills a morning or an afternoon: the ICONICS half day leaves at 1:45pm and runs 3h45, so you are back in Little Venice around 5:30pm. A full day is eight hours, and the 9:30am Ophorus start brings you back around 5:30pm too. Put the Musée Unterlinden or Musée Bartholdi on the other half of a half-day date. Unterlinden closes on Tuesdays, Bartholdi on Mondays, so check the day before you plan it. The things to do in Colmar have the hours for both.

Who can come

Age is where fares differ most after the tasting. The Ophorus half and full wine days are adults only, 18 and over. The Ophorus villages half day takes children from four. The ICONICS half day takes them too, but only if you book each child with their age, so the right car seat is fitted. Without that seat on the day, the child cannot travel and you are not refunded. At Domaine Gueth, under-18s taste grape juice free.

No vehicle tour here is wheelchair accessible. Domaine Gueth states step-free surfaces, and it is the one to choose if that matters to you.

When to go

The vineyard is green from late spring and gold in autumn. The Foire aux Vins, Colmar's wine fair, runs from 31 July to 9 August 2026. Colmar's six Christmas markets open from 23 November to 29 December 2026, and the villages fill up with them. No official source has published a 2026 harvest date, so do not plan around one.
